In September I went out with the photo club twice and took pictures in Emmen myself. This also started my project Emmen, the city where I live. Although I will certainly also photograph in other places, but it is precisely that variety that I really enjoy doing. I only want to finish the Emmen Project complete well, before I start my next project. Having said that, let me first show you the photos I took during this month.
On September 8, I had club evening with the Fotogroep Klazienaveen on my agenda. This time something round, red and reflective was processed in one photo or one if this was too difficult to photograph one of these parts. This is definitely not my thing, but it suited me well and I had my own plan for this evening. Because I have completely worked out a several of projects for myself, including the province Drenthe where I live in the Netherlands. Coevorden was also on my list, because I wanted to photograph the water tower and the castle here. So that I have the pictures in the Drenthe collection.
Still, I wanted one attempt to fulfill this assignment. I had the De Vlijt warehouse in mind for this mission. It was not the first time that I had been photographing in Coevorden and I remembered that there was a red and round on the water here. I didn’t know for sure, but luckily it was red that was reflective. Only a pity now that I had zoomed in on the photo I found out that it was not completely round.
Although I took more pictures on this evening, I was not really satisfied. That’s why I only shared the photo that made me very happy. I did have a nice evening, which in my opinion is also important.
On September 16 I went to the Raadhuisplein in Emmen and started to photograph there, with this my Emmen Project started. As you can see I have made two photo’s that evening, although i did not add the last photo to the Project but I am still happy with the results.
When you stand at front of the Atlas Theater on the town hall square, you will see the covered shopping center De Weiert on the other side. For this photo I used my big stopper from Benro, which I am still experimenting with. Despite there is a lot of noise in this images, I’m very satisfied with this picture. Of course I immediately looked up the internet to avoid the noise for next time. This was quite simple by changing a setting in the camera, something I haven’t done since I got this canon.
While taking the second photo, I was distracted because some young people were setting off some fireworks. As a result, not the entire building was photographed, which is a shame. For here I knew I could better use my wide angle lens, but I didn’t do this because of the fireworks. Still, I’m happy with this picture. Since I will be shooting here more often, I assume that next time I will not be bothered by young people setting off fireworks.
In Emmen’s project you see another photo I made and the last photo you are here is not included, because I want a better version of this another time.
On September 22 I had another photo evening with the photo club. This time we had a panoramic photo as subject, only the photo I made for the photo club, I was not completely satisfied with that. I was a bit uninspired here. That’s why I didn’t share this photo on my website, but they can be seen on my social media.
Of course I took other pictures, but I’m satisfied with these two. Same spot, only the first one was taken during the golden hour and I stacked 2 photos so that the exposure was good. This is because I don’t have a ND gradient filter yet, but I will definitely buy one. The last photo was taken during the blue hour, but I wanted to have red light streaks on both sides. That was easier said than done. Because you only have a short time to do this and you don’t have a grip on the traffic as you would like it to be at that moment.
Shooting in October
I never really have a plan, but the last 2 months of the autumn season the colors of the trees are at their best. Will I be regularly in the forest with Matsi, mushrooms are always nice to photograph and also in the city it is nice to capture.
Lots of love,
